Tulip Poplar (Liriodendron Tulipifera) Sapling
The state tree of Kentucky! A wonderful plant that, if you have a large enough space, is wonderful for wildlife. The host plant for the Tiger Swallowtail and a nector provider for hummingbirds, this tree does need some special considerations! Tulip poplar prefers moist soils and is not drought-hardy and is a "habitat creator" meaning the wood is suseptible to wind and ice damage. Place this tree where you can create a wood and log habitat, or if you like outdoor bonfires!
